VFA-195, the "Dambusters," is a U.S. Navy strike fighter squadron with a history dating back to 1943. Originally designated VT-19, it became VFA-195 on 1 April 1985 with the introduction of the F/A-18 Hornet. The squadron earned its nickname during the Korean War for a daring mission in 1951, where they destroyed the Hwachon Dam using precision bombing—a feat reminiscent of the RAF's Dambusters. Over the years, VFA-195 has operated aircraft like the TBM Avenger, A-1 Skyraider, A-4 Skyhawk, and A-7 Corsair II, transitioning to the F/A-18 and later the F/A-18E Super Hornet.
